“Just a quick word about me being model fighter. ‘Mo-fi’ is my first real go at sticking to a format. After a few years of faffing around with styles, the intention is to keep to a strict 60/120 bpm. Never sampling from work or sounds created by other people and never using mac’s or pc’s to produce the noise. I use keyboards, drum machines, guitars, a miniature Russian harp, tape loops, effects units, harmonica, found sounds (stolen conversations), acoustic beats, piano, accordion, toy music machines and a shit load of anything else I can squeeze a note out of.
I record onto my digital 12-track, mix through my old analogue machine. The music is designed around themes. Each demo is recorded with an individual concept relating its tracks together. For example demonstration 1 (from which track 1 is taken) is very much based on towns and cities I have lived in.
