In the summer of 1997 Mogwai represented the irresistible appeal of the band as a gang; you were either with them or against them. It was no surprise then that both of the albums recorded and released whilst Mogwai were at chemikal underground took their titles from gang and youth culture.

Musically Mogwai were the loudest exponents of what people had come to call 'post-rock'. Their concerts were a force of nature : people cried, damaged their hearing and fell in love with a band that would go on to define instrumental music for a generation.

Their fierce live reputation and chaotic stage antics won hearts and minds by the thousand. Mogwai continue to record, release and tour through their own Rock Action imprint.
