Not that we needed any convincing of course but Mother And The Addicts have been invited to demonstrate their sartorial elegance and musical panache at this years Scottish Style Awards. Taking place at the newly refurbished Kelvingrove Art Gallery on October 27th, the ceremony will feature the great and the good of Scottish art and design and will be hosted by your friend and mine Vic Galloway. Chances are the band’s performance will be filmed along with the evening itself and will be broadcast on the inestimable STV network.
The invitation came hot on the heels of the band’s now infamous ‘drag-performance’ for the Dolly Mixtures clubnight at Glasgow’s Macsorley’s Bar. Glammed up to the hilt in spikes, furs and hip-hugging dresses: that they brought the house down with a rip-roaring set came as no surprise whatsoever; that they managed to get out alive given some of the characters that drink in there was borderline miraculous.
Aside from dressing up as the fairer sex, the band are currently holed up in Chem19 recording the follow up to their demented debut Take The Lovers Home Tonight. Sneaky musical previews and tales from the control room will be filtered through to you as and when we decide the time is right – we’re in charge remember.
